Chapter 10

Mel

Pissed, Mel turned off the food, grabbed his keys off the kitchen table, and headed over to Samika’s place. She was taking things too far throwing a brick through Kira’s window. He turned on Brick Church Pike and headed near Broadmore. Passing Maplewood High School, he saw the band outside practicing. Years ago, Maplewood had one the best high school bands in Nashville and today they were still living up to the legacy. Mel pulled into the driveway of the town home and called Samika. Since he no longer lived there, he couldn’t let himself in.

“Hey,” Samika happily answered the phone.

“You busy?” he asked.

“No…” Samika was smiling so hard Mel could feel it through the phone.

“Okay, open the door.” Mel disconnected the call and got out of the car. He called Kira a couple of time but got no answer. He didn’t blame her. Hell, had it been the other way around, he would’ve been upset too. Samika happily opened the door and let him in. She knew he would run back to her sooner or later.

She looked so good to him in her pencil skirt and dress shirt. Mel couldn’t do shit but shake his head as he pictured himself sucking on her big breast, but then the thought of that brick going through Kira’s window made him erase all sexual thoughts.

“You hungry?” Samika asked.

“No,” Mel responded as he stood with his arms crossed and watched Samika as she acted like she didn’t have a care in the world. Looking around the home he once lived in, he glanced over at the dark blue sectional that was his favorite piece in the house. Samika had a 70-inch TV that he’d fallen asleep in front of many nights. He’d be lying if he said he didn’t miss living there or even missed her a little. As he stated once before, Samika was a good girl but just wasn’t the one for him.

“Oh okay, well what brings you by? You were just in the neighborhood?” Samika tried to make conversation with him. Mel was making her a little nervous; she wasn’t feeling the way he was standing there with his arms folded and staring at her. She had to admit, he looked tasty as hell in Ralph Lauren linen pants and sandals. This must have been something the new girl had him wearing. Normally, he only wore sweat pants or a part of saggy jeans. “You mad or something?” she asked confusedly.

“Yeah something like that. Look, I’m not here to take up too much of your time so I’m going to just say it. Don’t come anywhere near Kira, don’t drive by her house, and don’t go by her job. In fact, if you see her, turn the other way.”

“What the fuck are you talking about?” Samika sat down her glass of red wine and looked at Mel like he was crazy. Who in the hell did he think he was, walking into her home, telling her what the fuck
